HSB Inspection Quality was formerly Central Inspection Services of ICI. Central Inspection Services were formed in 1947, thus we are able to offer more than fifty years experience of inspection of process equipment. Having become part of the HSB worldwide organisation, we are now able to provide the full range of Engineering Insurance Services including in-service inspections.

HSB Inspection Quality is certified by the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) to ISO/IEC 17020 as a type “A” third party inspection body for the inspection, verification of design and certification of boilers, pressure vessels and associated pressurised systems.

The accreditation covers, but is not limited to:
BS5500, BS2790, BS1113, BS5045 Parts 1 & 2, BS EN 286, BS5169, BS2654, BS4994, AD Merkblätter, TEMA, ASME VIII, SI2095, ADR, RID, IMDG, BS4870, BS4871, BS EN 287, BS EN 288, ASME XI, ASME B31.3, BS806.

We are a Notified Body under the European Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) and under the Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive (99/36/EC). Our Notified Body No. is 0878 and we are able to provide services against all the modules listed therein.

We are also approved by the Department of Transportation of the United States as an agency to approve and certify DOT IM101, DOT IM102 Intermodal portable tanks.

HSB Inspection Quality are also certified by Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as an inspection body under article 22 of the framework directive 76/767/EEC.

The majority of the company staff are field Engineers deployed around the UK within easy reach of the major engineering centres. In addition there are staff Engineers based in Germany and the company has agreements in place allowing the provision of services throughout the World.

Our worldwide approval covers many countries including Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

From February 2007 we are able to provide UKAS accredited calibration services using our inhouse facilities. These services cover Electrical, Pressure, Flow and Dimensional.
