Within the European Union there are two types of European Directives that affect manufacturers.

Under article 100A of the “Treaty of Rome Product Directives” are intended to remove technical barriers to trade and facilitate the free movement of goods between European Member States. They relate to specific products at the point of manufacture up to supply.

Under article 118A “Safety Directives” place duties on Member States to pursue improvements for a uniform standard of health & safety of workers within their working environment.

Through legislation the emphasis places the responsibility for declaring conformity with the manufacturer. However, purchasers may continue to specify their own requirements over and above that contained in the legislation.

Our activities cover the “European Pressure Equipment Directive” and the “European Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive”. Within the UK these are known as “The Pressure Equipment Regulations” and “The Transportable Pressure Vessel Regulations”.
