Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000

The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations were introduced in 2000 and are a direct replacement for the Pressure Systems and Transportable Gas Containers Regulations 1989. Minor changes were introduced to take account of new pressure plant being supplied in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and to remove requirements for Transportable Gas Containers which are now covered under other legislation.

Duties are placed on designers, manufacturers, installers, owners, users and repairers of pressure systems to ensure that they are safe. Owners and users need to have a Written Scheme of examination for all pressure systems where a defect would give rise to danger and to ensure that the required examinations are carried out.

HSB IQ can advise on the requirements of the regulations and can provide the following:

Written Schemes of Examination
Examination of Pressure Systems in accordance with Written Schemes
Training on the Requirements of the Regulations

The Regulations cover all pressure systems at all places of work, with statutory obligations on the owners and users. If you are in doubt concerning your responsibilities contact HSB IQ for advice.
